Justice and National Security

The EU and Armenia are facing common challenges in the JLS sector such as the administration of justice, the penal chain, migration, the prevention of and the fight against organized crime, corruption, trafficking and the fight against terrorism as well as other serious crimes of a cross border nature.

In this sector, the EUAG is cooperating with the National Security Council, the Ministry of Justice, the RA Police System, the State Migration Office and the Armenian Border Control authorities.

More specifically, concerning the Ministry of Justice, the National Security Council and the Police, the EU Advisory Group:

  • Provides policy advice on the developing of national strategies and their approximation with EU best practices;
  • Cooperates actively with the Armenian state bodies to improve legislation according to EU and international standards and best practices;
  • Supports the government’s efforts to implement reforms and to further increase the professional capacity of the personnel;
  • Assists the Armenian authorities in choosing the appropriate measures and financing tools to implement their projects.
